Match Report
For the first game of the season the coaches views are that all the team played well, we didn't have a full squad due to several injures. New lodge (giants) started very fast, and it wasn't long before we were a goal down. It took the Pythons 10 minutes to get in the game but when they did they held well, New lodge (giants) scored again but Pythons hit straight back through Jacob to make it 2-1. New lodge scored again with a wind assisted lob, deep into the 2nd half Pythons got a free kick 30+ meters out, we needed Tom to be at his best, and he was, a brilliant goal sneaked just under the crossbar with tremendous dip. Half-time 3-2.5 minutes into the 2nd half with the wind against them Pythons got a corner, Adam delivered a ball straight on Jacob's head he flicked it on for Luke who banged it in the corner net to make it 3-3.By this time the weather was awful, (I wish id have brought my kite) 10 minutes in the 2nd half New lodge scored again to make it 4-3.
With the wind behind them New lodge kept the pressure on and got there reward with there 5th goal, final score New lodge 5 Pythons 3.
We can hold our heads up high as not only did we have a depleted and injured squad and terrible playing condition, there was a lot of good football played by both teams, well done lads.
