It was only 22 days before this Saturday's fixture that we played our first ever matches against AFC Blackpool and it was the last weekend we enjoyed a 6 point haul. We wrapped the first game up pretty comfortably with a 5-0 win, Oscar O'Neill scoring a couple, Harry's Sagar and Fisher as well as James Cowburn netting one apiece. In the second game Liam Docherty and Ross Hart gave us a 2-0 half time lead, but a late goal for AFC could have caused a few a nervy final few minutes had Ross Hart not snatched a late one for us to give us a comfortable margin at the final whistle.
We have been top of the league or neck and neck all season and we still have the cushion of a 2 point leage over 2nd placed Spirit Of Youth FC. As the final half of the season progresses, now is the time for a return to the form which saw us take the league by storm in the earlier part of the season. AFC will be looking to give us a tough match at their place on Saturday so lets get straight back into double winning ways all the way to the final game. Come On You YMCA!
Saturday's Fixture - Staining Away (15/11/08)
12th November 2008
With the season exactly half way through, we play our first return fixture of the season on Saturday when we travel to Staining's Chain Lane ground beside the village hall. It's over a year now since we played our first match there when on a sunny September morning we played 2 under 8s fixtures against Staining Junior FC. Ben Holmes came to our rescue in the first match scoring a last minute equaliser to earn a 2-2 draw, Rohan Brow scoring our first. Then we enjoyed a comfortable 8-0 victory with Jack Bishop scoring 4, Harry Fisher, Oscar O'Neill, Ross Hart and Charles Shaw all scoring one apiece.
It was just 4 weeks ago that we played Staining at Seafield Road when we just managed to take maximum points with a hard fought 1-0 victory in the first match, thanks to a Liam Docherty belter, followed by a 7-0 win. Ross Hart opened the scoring in that one then Harry Fisher, George Wyatt and Jack Taylor all scored 2 each to keep us top of the league. Staining recently earned a point against Wyre and are an improving side. It is clear earlier results will count for nothing on Saturday so we must be at the top of our game when we meet the Chain Lane Gang this weekend. Good luck YMCA!

Saturday's Fixture - Wyre Juniors (Home) 8/11/08
4th November 2008
Arrive 9.45am for 10.00am warm-up
This Saturday morning we entertain Wyre Juniors FC at Seafield Road. This will be another first for us as we have yet to play the boys rom Preesall. Wyre have been one of the most consistent teams in our league this season and have been almost a permanent fixture in 3rd position. Their 16 matches so far have yielded 30 points, having won 10, drawn none and lost 6. With the season nearly half way through Wyre will be looking to give it an extra push in trying to gain one of the top 2 automatic promotion places.
Early team news suggests Harry Fisher is now fully recovered from a bout of the Norovirus which incapacitated him last week and we look forward to the return of Robert Pickersgill and Rohan Brow following well earned half-term breaks. This is a game we must be well up for against one of the strongest teams we will face this season. Good luck YMCA!
