Match Report
It was a cold blustery day down at Stanley Park with Ryan Roberts making some inforced changes due to some absentees, with Cameron Ray and Tommy Harrison starting on the bench.
The game starts with the YM unable to get into their stride and are looking a little disjointed with the inforced changes, the first incident of the game sees captain Owen Futter going off with an injury and being replaced by Tommy Harrison who joins Anderson at the back with Gregory dropping into the middle of the park. This change seems to give YM better balance and they are soon taking control when Gregory does some excellent work laying on Clinch who finishes well from close range. Clifton manage to create a chance of their own with Fletcher being called into action for the first time and saves well. YM come close again with Openshaw supplying some excellent balls from the flanks.
Half time 0-1
YM have not come out for the second half and Clifton apply some early pressure, a direct move down the middle brings Fletcher out of his goal he looks beaten but Gregory who seems to be everywhere clears off the line, this proves to be the last chance that Clifton get as the away side take control. Good work from Milligan sees another chance put just wide. Substitution on comes Ray for Openshaw, YM are in complete control and Clinch creates a chance for Ray who slots home for the second. Moments Later Gregory pierces the Clifton defence and in comes Clinch to finish the game off.
Full time 0-3
A comfortable away win for the YM in tricky conditions.
