YMCA Under 10s are playing this season in the Poulton Primary League, Under 10s Division B. We have a keen group of young players with supportive parents and the aim for the season is to regain Division A status when we move to 11-a-side next season.
We aim to give the players a better understanding of the game, enabling them to improve as players, and hopefully to have fun along the way! Training takes place on Thursday evenings at the Lytham High School all-weather pitch from 17.45 to 19.30 and matches are on Saturday mornings at 10.30.

This Saturday sees us take on AFC Blackpool for the first time in any age group. AFC didn't compete in the Poulton Primary League at Under 9s level last season so until now they have remained something of an unknown quantity to us. What we do know is that they are a strong side currently sitting in 4th place just 7 points behind us, having played 18, won 10, drawn 3 and lost 5. Last Saturday we put in 2 blistering performances against an outstanding Lytham Maroon side and will need to repeat that form again this Saturday; with a little extra on top! The season is still not yet half way over and there are plenty of points to play for. We must continue to battle for every point and play like the Champions we aim to be. Let's give it all we've got on Saturday and give Lytham a run for their money, right to the end of the season!

This Saturday's fixture pits us against current league leaders Lytham Juniors Maroon. LJM have an awesome record this season with the only surviving 100% record in the Poulton Primary Leagues, having played 16 and won the lot; scoring in excess of 100 goals already. Last season Lytham Juniors just pipped us to safety to remain in division 1 where their 'Blue' team now play. The 'Maroon' team were inaugurated at the start of this season following the migration of a number of players from Warton and Foxhall. Nevertheless, we have a good record against Lytham Juniors losing 1-0 then winning 4-1 at their ground in October 2007. On that day Ryan Hadley scored a brace while Dominic Snape plus an og gave us a comfortable victory. The reverse fixture at Seafield Road on 1 December 2007 saw us take the advantage in 2 closely fought matches, the first a 0-0 draw then a victory to us by the slimmest of margins with Dan Hood scoring the only goal of the game, giving us 4 points on the day.
Lytham Juniors Maroon are undoubtedly a quality team not to be taken lightly. But if we have confidence in our own ability and step onto the pitch with a positive winning attitude, there is no reason for us to be second best on the day. Good luck YMCA, give it all you've got!
