Key news and reports: WEEKEND 14 / 15 MARCH
8 WINS AND A DRAW FROM NINE GAMES
There was definitely a hint of Spring this weekend, still a little cool but mainly sunny, and there was certainly a spring in the steps of our teams as well. We had nine teams in action and not a single one suffered a defeat, eight teams chalking up victories. What a fantastic weekend for our club. On the Saturday our 10s maintained their promotion ambitions with 3-0 and 10-0 wins at Warton Typhoons in the PDP 7-a-side League, Laurence Joyner bagging a pair in the A game with rampant Ryan White netting seven goals in the B game. On the Sunday morning at Seafield our 18s beat Penwortham Town for the 2nd time in a week, this time 3-1 and our ‘keeper Mark Gray pulled off a brilliant save from a spot kick.In the afternoon at Seafield our 12s were being held to 2-2 by Foxhall with 15 minutes remaining then we hit the visitors with a 4-goal blast to run out 6-2 winners. On the next pitch our 11s were taking on bottom side Wyre Juniors where we missed a host of chances but a double but a double strike by Josh Clayton gave un an eventual 2-0 win. Over at the Bispham Gala Field our 14s had an excellent 5-2 victory over Blackpool Rangers, Ryan Riley claiming four of our goals. GIRLS HELD IN TOP-TABLE CLASH
Our 14s Girls travelled to Blackburn to take on main title rivals Lammack where we led 3-1 at one stage but the home side fought back to earn a 3-3 draw, Samantha Bell netting twice for us. Although our 100% record was ended we still remained unbeaten. Our 11s Girls made the shorter trip to Thornton and came away with an excellent 7-1 victory, Erin Menzies and Laurel North both hitting pairs. Our Open Age Ladies were at Crosby Stuart where the scores were locked at 2-2 at half time. The superior fitness of our girls told in the 2nd half though helping us to finish up 6-3 winners, Siobhan Roach notching a hat trick.
