Key news and reports: WEEKEND 13 / 14 SEPT

SUCCESSFUL WEEKEND

September is the month when most teams launch their Lancs FA County Cup campaigns and our 12s’ first hurdle was a tough one, away to top Preston outfit Cadley Boys. Cadley are always amongst the favourites in County Cup competitions but our boys made manager Carl Pomfret proud by producing an excellent display which brought a 3-1 victory, Keiran Atchison, Russell Townsend and Cameron Stubbs were our marksmen. In league action our 11s came away from South Shore Youth with a fine 7-2 victory with Dave Cartmell and Chris Clinch both bagging hat tricks whilst at Seafield our 14s had a comfortable 5-2 win over BJFF with all our goals being shared by five different players. Our depleted 16s though were beaten 4-1 away to Thornton, Tom Molloy notching our only consolation. In the Preston LEP League our 18s were in Youth Cup action at home to Penwortham where it was goalless at half time. However, inspired by the brilliant Max Rothwell our boys finished up 4-0 winners. Our Under 11 Girls made a great start to their season with 6-0 home victory over Fleetwood Town, Georgia Rose and Amy Sudworth both bagging pairs. In 7-a-side football the Poulton Primary League got underway after their entire league programme was washed out the previous week, and both YMCA teams notched up maximum points. At Seafield our 10s beat Blackpool Rangers 3-0 and 1-0, Laurence Joyner netting twice in the A game. Over at Blackpool Rangers our 9s kicked off their first ever game in league football with 3-0 and 5-0 victories. James Cowburn scored twice in the A game with Oscar O’Neill bagging a hat trick in the B encounter.
