Key news and reports: TOP YMCA SIDE DISBANDS
CLUB IS STUNNED BY DEFECTIONS
The LSA YMCA has had to withdraw its entry to the BDYFL's Under 13 Section for this coming season. The team were champions of last season's Under 12 Section and this title was their 4th in succession after having been champions at Under 9s, 10s, and 11s in previous seasons. Club secretary 'Lozz' Rose has been stunned by this sudden collapse of such a successful team which came about by at least eight of last season's squad deciding to sign for other clubs. 'Lozz' stated " I have never known a YMCA team disintergrate so quickly and it is particularly sad considering it was such a successful side. It seems to have disappeared without trace with only a handful of boys attending recent training sessions." 'Lozz' went on to say "Our Under 16s of last season, who have now moved out of youth football, never won a single trophy yet eight members of this squad displayed great club loyalty by sticking together and played right through from Under 10s which is a tremendous credit to them and their parents. I find it quite unbelievable that a team which had won four league titles and numerous tournaments during the past five years has had to withdraw from the league because so many players have abandoned the club." 'Lozz' concluded by saying " I thought that after having been involved in youth football for 36 years nothing would ever surprise me but I was wrong. I am totally stunned by what's happened."
