11s AND 14s BOTH CLINCH TITLES IN TWO 5-GOAL THRILLERS
Congratulations to our Under 11s and 14s who both claimed their respective league championship trophies in thrilling and dramic title 'Play Off' games staged at Seafield Rd. In the Under 11s game it was goalless in the 1st half then Kirkham went ahead midway through the 2nd period. Jordan Milligan grabbed an equaliser for YMCA and it ended at 1-1. In the 1st half of extra time a Chris Clinch strike put 2-1 ahead and it became 3-1 after the turnround through Dave Cartmell. Kirkham reduced the score almost immediately but YMCA hung on and took the title with a 3-2 victory. Meanwhile on the senior pitch our 14s also fell behind after taking anan early lead through Robbie Hunter. Lytham hit back twice to take a 2-1 lead into the interval but YMCA levelled with Hunter's 2nd goal of the game before Ryan Riley headed us 3-2 in front, a lead we managed to keep until the end. These were two fantastic games of football and a credit to all the four teams involved and both games could have gone either way. Collecting two championship trophies on one afternoon though was a brilliant finale to YMCA's season. Our Under 18s ended their marvellous campaign with a 6-0 home win over Hesketh Bank. The team has achieved a fabulous treble by claiming the league championship, the LEP Cup and the Lancs FA Youth Cup. Also at Seafield a Lauren North hat trick helped our 11s girls to earn a 3-3 draw against Lammack whilst our Open Age Ladies romped to a 13-0 victory at Rossendale Mavericks, Louise Gibbons bagging four of our goals with Millie Brown and Amy Crossland both claiming hat tricks.
