Key news and reports: MIDWEEK: 22/23 APRIL
WINS FOR 12s AND 14s BUT 10 FAIL TO HOLD CHAMPS
On a lovely spring Wednesday evening at Seafield new Under 10 champions Lytham Juniors Maroons arrived to play their final game of the campaign with their proud unbeaten record still intact, and it stayed that way as well. They were two very entertaining contests though with the visitors winning the A game 4-3 before edging the B game as well 2-1, Ryan White netting a pair for our boys in the A game. The following evening was another pleasant one at Seafield as well for our Under 12s’ game against Poulton Youth where after a goalless first half we emerged 2-0 winners with strikes by Brad Garner and Russell Townsend in the 2nd half. The only downside of the evening was that midges suddenly emerged biting everybody at the ground, and I thought it was a little early in the year for these annoying little creatures to appear. Away from Seafield our 14s romped to an 11-0 victory over Kirkham where Ryan Riley bagged a hat trick with Zenda Stemp, Robbie Hunter and Paul Deeley all hitting pairs. ‘Keeper Alex Cameron played out in the 2nd half and he notched a goal also.
