GREAT WIN FOR GIRLS
WEEKEND 4/5 OCTOBERJOSH’S DOUBLE-HEADER IN 11s VICTORYEXTRA TIME DEFEAT FOR 16s IN COUNTY CUPLAYTON 10s HIT BY WALL – GIRLS BEAT RIVALSIn 7-a-side soccer on the Saturday our 9s maintained their 100% record with 3-0 and 1-0 home wins over Layton Juniors, Oscar O’Neill netting twice in the A game. Our 10s though had to settle for just a share of the points at Layton. We were pipped 2-1 in the A game before we routed the home side 6-0 in the B contest, Marcus Wall bagging a hat trick and Joel Raines a pair. After lunch on that day, torrential rain and gales hit the Fylde Coast causing many pitches to become waterlogged for the Sunday Youth League fixtures. What a difference Sunday was though with lovely sunshine all day Sunday and despite the previous day’s weather our Seafield Rd pitches remained in superb condition, and all four games scheduled there were played. In the morning our 14s Girls pulled off a fantastic 2-0 win over main title rivals Lammack whilst our 18s Boys, with only 10 players available, had a great 4-1 victory against Croston Sports in the Preston LEP League’s Youth Cup. Max Rothwell was in brilliant form and claimed three of our goals. In the afternoon our 11s went top of the table with an excellent 4-0 defeat of Poulton Youth and one of the smallest players on the pitch, Josh Clayton, headed two of our goals. Both were from excellent crosses by Jordan Milligan who found the target himself also. Our 16s entertained Poulton Youth in the Lancs FA Cup 2nd round and although we led 2-1 at one stage it was 2-2 at the break and the score remained that way until the end. Unfortunately for our boys Poulton netted twice more in extra time to clinch a 4-2 victory.
