Key news and reports: 4th JANUARY

FIVE WINS OUT OF FIVE

What a great start to the New Year for the YMCA FC. We had five teams in action and all five notched up victories and our defences were in miserly moods as well with only two goals conceded in these five games. Actually, it was amazing that there any games at all on the Fylde coast after 10 successive days of freezing weather. Temperatures had dipped well below zero every night and hardly rose above freezing point in daylight hours so pitches had become rock hard. However, there was a slight thaw this weekend and all scheduled games went ahead as planned which was quite surprising.
Our 11s and 12s were both involved in Hogan Cup prelim rounds and both should have been at home. However, as we had four games for our three pitches at Seafield our 11s switched their tie against Blackpool Rangers ‘A’ to the opponents’ ground at Moor Park where two goals apiece by Chris Clinch and Lewis Thom helped us to a comfortable 9-1 victory. Our 12s also coasted through to the 1st round proper with a 5-0 defeat of AFC Blackpool. In league action at Seafield our 16s overcame South Shore 3-1 in a very entertaining contest whilst our 14s kept their 100% league intact with an 8-0 victory over neighbours St Annes FC. Jordan Bishop bagged a hat trick and Ben Proctor a pair. In the morning at Seafield our 11s Girls went on a goal-spree by beating Euxton 10-0, Olivia Hooper leading the way with four of our goals with Olivia North weighing-in with a hat trick. There were two goals also from Hannah Wright.  There were no Saturday morning games in the Poulton Primary 7-A-Side League this weekend.
