Key news and reports: 31st OCTOBER / 1st NOVEMBER

12s AND 13s OVERCOME GALES AND RAIN

The weather during the previous weekend, the last one in October, was unpleasant enough but when November arrived this weekend it was even worse.  Gales and heavy showers swept across the Fylde Coast, and in most other parts of the UK as well. Even a game in the Scottish Premier League between Dundee and Rangers came a cropper when it was abandoned after just half an hour after torrential rain had flooded the pitch. Many games in the local Sunday morning open-age league were called off as well with the gales and rain making conditions chaotic, particularly at exposed grounds such as Common Edge Rd and Blackpool Rd North.
The Blackpool Youth League also had many casualties, our 15s being one of them with their scheduled fixture at Thornton being washed out by a waterlogged pitch. It was obviously very nasty at Seafield as well with our 15s Girls game being called off in the morning when the elements were at its worst. It wasn’t that much better in the afternoon but both games involving our 12s and 13s did go ahead and both our teams retained their 100% records. A double strike by Chris Clinch helped our 12s to a 4-0 win over Blackpool Rangers, all the goals coming in the first half whilst our 13s had an excellent 3-0 victory against neighbours Lytham Juniors. Over at Boundary Park though our 11s’ title hopes suffered a setback with a 3-1 defeat by FC Rangers.
7-A-SIDEOur 10s’ home game on the Saturday didn’t go ahead but this wasn’t due to the weather. It was postponed the night before when the squad of opponents Lytham Juniors was decimated by illness and we fully agreed to this game being re-scheduled. Over at Lytham Juniors our 9s collected all six points with 2-1 and 3-0 victories. Reece Cowell bagged both goals in the A game, Iain Fox claiming a double strike in the B match whilst at Blackpool Rd North our 8s were overcoming St Annes FC 5-2 and 8-3.  Jacob Taylor netted twice in the A game then in the B game Tyler Bland and Charlie Croasdale both netted pairs as well.
