Key news and reports: 29/30 NOVEMBER
LAURENCE, RYAN, LEWIS AND SASHA ALL AMONGST THE GOALS
The end of November and it was a typical British November weekend as well particularly on the Saturday when freezing fog shrouded the Fylde Coast throughout the entire day. Night time temperatures also plunged to the lowest for 12 months but amazingly, most games went ahead on both days. The very poor visibility on the Saturday morning didn’t affect our Under 10s at Seafield as we ran out 5-1 and 10-1 winners against Poulton Town. Laurence Joyner hit a hat trick in the A game then Ryan White bagged six goals in the B contest.
On the Sunday morning we woke up to a ‘white-out’ after a very heavy overnight frost and many were caught out with no de-icer for their cars but it thawed out just enough for the two girls’ games to go ahead at Seafield. Our 14s Girls had an excellent 6-1 victory over Wilpshire Wanderers, Sasha Wozniac notching four of our goals. Our 11s Girls faced a strong Mill Hill side from Blackburn and although we put up a very spirited display we went down 3-1 after Olivia Hooper had levelled the scores. In the afternoon at Seafield our 12s clinched a hard-earned 3-1 win over Thornton Cleveleys whilst away at Thornton a 2nd half hat trick by Lewis Thom helped our 11s to a fine 6-0 victory. Our 16s though went down 2-0 away at neighbours Lytham Juniors whilst at Mythop Rd our Open Age Ladies recorded a 6-2 win over Liverpool outfit Crosby Stuart, Beth Rogerson on target twice.
Our 18s Boys’ team’s County Cup tie at Charnock Richard was one casualty of the weather this weekend though. This tie should have been played the previous week but was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch and it was rescheduled for this weekend. However it was called off again, this time because of a frost bound pitch.
