WINS AND CLEAN SHEETS FOR 13s AND 15s

The was the last weekend of this month and most of us thought ‘thank goodness’. I don’t ever remember a wetter November than this one and most of local football suffered the consequences of yet another week of heavy showers with around 90% of both youth and open-age games postponed including our Under 9s, 10s, and 11s. Our 12s’ Lancs FA Cup 4th round tie at Blackburn was also a victim.
We had two games on the Sunday afternoon at Seafield and true to form, rain started falling exactly at kick off time and it turned out to be a thoroughly unpleasant cold and wet afternoon. However, both YMCA teams came out on top, and both without conceding a goal as well. Our 13s were up against Kirkham and although we led 2-0 at the break the 1st half was fairly even but in the end we ran out comfortable 7-0 winners with Connah Bishop weighing in with a hat trick. Our 15s should have been away to Thornton but with their ground being one the many under water it was switched to Seafield where we recorded an impressive 5-0 victory. Two of our girls’ teams had home games in the morning but unfortunately both suffered defeats. Our 10s, still looking for their first ever victory put up a brave and spirited display against Blackburn side Mill Hill before we eventually went down 4-1 after a 5th minute strike by Faith Hill had put us ahead. Our 15s also went in front before suffering their first league defeat of the campaign. Academy Juniors made an early reply to a Jessica Ammasoli’s 12th minute goal and then ran out 5-1 victors.
