13s REACH COUNTY CUP QUARTERS AFTER 7-GOAL THRILLER
More heavy rain during the previous 7 days wiped out over 80% of local open age and youth soccer games around the Fylde Coast with many pitches being left with pools of standing water. On the Sunday our 13s travelled to Greater Manchester to face Lourdes FC in the 4th round of the Lancs FA Cup and this proved to be a real thriller. We led twice with strikes by Russell Townsend and Oliver Brooks but the home side levelled twice then took a 3-2 lead in the closing stages. However, our boys battled back superbly and a goal by Aiden Atchison sent the game into extra time and a 2nd from Atchison in the second period of extra time earned our boys a gutsy 4-3 victory. None of our other boys’ teams were in action but on a cold and blustery morning at Seafield two of our girls teams were. Unfortunately though, both suffered defeats. Our 10s Girls went down 1-3 to Bury, Rachael Houghton scoring our goal and following that our 12s Girls lost 4-0 against Haslingden. On the Saturday our 10s opened up a 10-point lead at the top of the table by collecting all 6 points at Clifton Rangers. Bradley Jones netted twice in a 4-0 A game victory before we emerged 2-0 victors in the B contest. At Seafield though our 9s were beaten 3-0 in both games against Rangers.
