HAT TRICKS BY AMASSOLI, STEHENSON AND HOOPER
According to the calendar autumn officially starts on 21st September so this was the last weekend of summer. Mind you, as far as we were all concerned summer really ended in June when we enjoyed a heat wave for a week but following that, July and August was generally wet and disappointing. I am usually well wrapped up at Seafield, 37 years of experience having taught me that this is a wise thing to do, but even I was in just my shirt sleeves as we enjoyed two days of wall-to-wall sunshine. It was a weekend of lovely weather, and our results were pretty good as well. In 7-a-side football on the Saturday our 10s had 1-0 and 3-0 victories over Thornton at Seafield with Charles Shaw bagging a brace in the B game. Over at Thornton our 9s had a win 1-0 in the A game win but we went down 2-1 in the B contest. On the Sunday our 11s were held to a 2nd successive 3-3 home draw, this time against Foxhall, but an Adam Stephenson hat trick helped our 15s to a 5-0 home win over AFC Blackpool. Not too far away at the Lytham Academy our 12s were held to a goalless stalemate in 1st half against neighbours Lytham before we eventually ran out fine 3-0 victors. Two of our Girls teams were in action at Seafield Rd on the Sunday morning. An Olivia Hooper hat trick our helped our 12s to a 6-2 defeat of BJFF whilst our 15s came from behind to beat Woodbank 4-2, Jessica Amassoli weighing-in with three superbly taken goals.
