10s LOSE TOP-TABLE CLASH

With Blackpool taking on Preston North End at Bloomfield Rd on the Sunday lunchtime many games had early kick-offs. In fact Seafield Rd was deserted in the afternoon and after the deluge of rain the previous Sunday what a pleasure it was being at Seafield in the morning as lovely autumn sunshine shone throughout with not a drop of rain to be seen. However, it rained goals as far as our girls’ teams were concerned and all of them in opposition’s nets.  Our 14s Girls took on Bridge Colts in the County Cup quarter finals and helped by hat tricks from Samantha Ball and Lauren Gallagher we romped to a 12-0 victory, Sasha Wozniac and Rebecca Griffiths both weighing-in with pairs. Meanwhile on the next pitch our 11s Girls swamped Thornton 21-0 in a totally one-sided game. Olivia Hooper and Laurel North bagged five goals apiece with goalkeeper Ellie Miller netting four times after switching to an outfield role during the 2nd half.  Over at Mythop Rd our open-age Ladies beat Bury Ladies 6-2, Millie Brown bagging a hat trick and Louise Gibbons a brace. In other morning kick-offs at Seafield our 12s Boys avenged their County Cup exit the previous week at Poulton Youth by comfortably beating them in the league 3-0. Mind you, such a superb playing surface at Seafield was a far cry from the Cottam Hall ‘bog’ of the week before. Our 18s though lost their unbeaten record with a 2-1 home defeat to Longridge Town, a Scott Harries strike in the closing minutes coming too late to save the game. Away from Seafield our 14s were at Staining and despite very heavy pitch conditions we came away with an excellent 10-1 victory, Ryan Allan and Robbie Hunter both hitting hat tricks. Our 16s though were a little unlucky to go down 1-0 at Wyre Thornton. The Saturday wasn’t the greatest day for our Poulton Primary League 7-a-side teams either. Our 10s went to the Lytham Academy for a top-table clash against Lytham Junior Maroons. We were comfortably beaten 2-0 in the A game but a Laurence Joyner hat trick in the B game gave us a great chance of becoming the first team to take points off the home side this season. We were 3-1 ahead with 15 minutes left but the home side stormed back impressively to snatch a dramatic 4-3 victory. What an enthralling game though and a credit to local youth football. Meanwhile, our 9s were dropping a couple of points at Staining where we were held to a 1-1 draw in the A game but a double strike by Rohan Brow helped us to a 4-0 B game win.
