SUCCESS IN THE SUNSHINE

When you have a week of pleasantly warm sunshine it’s usually ‘sod’s law’ that it all changes for the weekend but thankfully that didn’t happen this weekend as the lovely Autumn weather stretched into both days. At Seafield on the Sunday our 13s commenced their Lancs FA Cup campaign with a home tie against Bacup Town. Although the visitors started brightly our boys proved too strong for them in the end and Aiden Atchison, who scored four times in the opening league game the previous week, continued where he left off by bagging a hat trick in our 8-0 victory. Russell Townsend and Carl Kennedy weighed in with two apiece. Our 11s hosted South Shore in their first home game of the season which proved to be a highly entertaining encounter. After we had fallen behind to an early goal we fought back a 2-1 lead into the break. Shore levelled after the restart but we quickly went ahead again only for the visitors to grab a late equaliser and it finished all square at 3-3. Kai Leyland netted twice with Ryan White also on target. Later that day at Seafield our 15s kicked off their new season with a 5-2 victory over Thornton. Our 12s continued their fine start to the campaign at FC Rangers, but not without a scare. We eased into a 2-0 lead but then allowed Rangers to level the scores at 2-2 before we eventually ran out 4-2 winners.  At Seafield on the Saturday our 9s Boys found BJFF a little too strong and we went down 1-3 and 2-5 and over at the Bispham Gala Field our 10s had to settle for four points against BJ. Harry Fisher netted twice in a 3-0 A game win and victory in the B contest also looked on the cards when we took a 2-0 lead. However, the home side staged a spirited fight back and grabbed two late goals to earn a 2-2 draw. Our brand new 8s squad had their first taste of organised football with a friendly fixture at AFC Blackpool and it proved a great start. We notched up 7-3 and 12-4 victories, Tyler Bland claiming a hat trick in the A game with Matthew Sheridan and Jack Doyle both scoring twice in the B contest.  At Seafield on the Sunday our Under 10 Girls played their first ever league game and were unlucky to be pipped 3-2 by Rossendale St Marys. Over at Rossendale Rangers though our 15s Girls came home with an excellent 6-0 victory, Jessica Omassoli and Samantha Ball both notching pairs. Our Open Age Ladies though had a disappointing start, losing 8-0 at Blackpool FC.
